Baccarat Rules
Baccarat is one of the oldest of all casino games, and records suggest that it was even played in the fifteenth century in France and was known as Punto Banco which means “Zero” in Italian. Baccarat refers to the zero value of the Tens and Face Cards.
Baccarat is very popular in Europe and is considered to be one of the more elegant games to play. Baccarat is traditionally played without an upper table limit, but over the years that has changed.
In traditional casinos Baccarat tables are kept separate from the rest of the casino in what is called a ‘”Baccarat Pit” and is easily recognized as it is quite large and can seat up to twelve people.

Playing the game
Baccarat is played with a single standard deck of cards and two hands of cards will be dealt, one for the Player and one for the Banker. The cards will be dealt in accordance to a standard set of Baccarat rules and each hand will contain either two or three cards.
The amounts that will be wagered on each game of Baccarat will be visible in the “Amount Bet” or “Bet” box. Players may adjusted the amount by clicking on the “Increase” or “Decrease” buttons.
Once the wager has been determined by the player, he must then decide which of the three possible bets he wishes to make before the cards are dealt. The player can choose to bet on the Banker’s hand, the Player’s hand or the possibility of a Tie by clicking on the appropriate buttons. Once the bet has been placed the two hands will be dealt.
The winning hand will be the one that is the closest to the value of nine (9). The value of a hand is calculated by adding up the value of each card. The Aces have a value of 1. Face Cards and tens (10s) have no value so they do not contribute to the value of the hand at all. All other card values are as they appear eg 2=2, 3=3, 4=4 and so on.
If the value of a Baccarat hand exceeds 9 then the value of the hand is taken as the "unit" portion of the total. So if a hand consists of an 8 of clubs and a 7 of diamonds the total for the hand would be 15. The player would then ignore the "tens" portion of that total, which give a value of 5. Similarly if the total of the cards were 20 the player would then ignore the 2 (tens portion) which leave a hand value of 0.
Once the winning hand is determined the game is over and if the hand the player wagered on then he will be paid out according to the rules in the Payout Schedule section.
General Baccarat rules
A 5% commission is taken when the player bets on a winning Banker's hand.
Face cards and 10s have no value in Baccarat at all.
A tie that the player did not bet on pays the player back his ante.
If the hand the player chose to wager on wins, then the player will be paid double his bet, unless he bet on a tie in which case the payout will be eight (8) times the amount he bet. If the Player wins when backing the Banker’s hand the House will charge a small percentage. Should the player have backed a losing hand his ‘Ante’ will be lost. If both the hands are a “Tie” and the player did not place a bet then his “Ante” will be refunded.
Baccarat Tips
1. In Baccarat each round of play results in a win for either the player or the bank. There is nothing similar to the 0 and 00 in Roulette to destroy a winning system. Ties are standoffs in which neither bank nor player loses.
2 There is a unique situation in baccarat, where one side wins more often than the other. The bank bet wins 50.68% of the time. Even though the house takes 5% commission, it only takes this commission on the winning banker bets, not the losing ones. So if a player loses on a banker bet, he will not pay an additional vigorish.
3 Sometimes in Baccarat the bank hand can win one round after another, and at other times the player hand will do the same thing. The odds of the game, however, favour the bank hand, and the winning streaks tend to be longer and stronger on the banker side. So players are advised to use the bank bet as the basic wager and try to take advantage of the winning streaks. It is also a good idea to keep track of what's happening on a scorecard furnished either by the house, or supplied by the player himself.
